Subscriber Management System

Redesigning an enterprise platform that powers 2M+ subscriber operations at scale.

Context

TCCL's Subscriber Management System supports the day-to-day operations of more than two million subscribers through a network of local cable operators. As the platform evolved, disconnected workflows, inconsistent interfaces and complex financial operations made everyday tasks harder to complete.

The redesign focused on creating a clear, consistent and scalable experience across the entire platform.

The Challenge

Simplify a complex operational platform without losing its depth.

The platform had 12 interconnected modules, large datasets and workflows spanning subscribers, devices, payments and service operations.

Workflowsneeded to be simplified.
Consistencyneeded to be improved across modules.
Daily tasksneeded to require less effort.
Financial actionsneeded to be clearer and safer.

Process

How the platform was constructed

01 Designing a Connected Platform

One consistent experience across 12 modules.

I created shared navigation, reusable components and common interaction patterns so users could move between modules without learning a different interface each time.

The system remained flexible enough to support different operational needs while maintaining a consistent experience.

02 Simplifying Complex Workflows

Bring related actions together.

Users often moved between multiple modules to complete a single task.

I restructured key workflows by grouping related information and actions together, reducing unnecessary navigation and making common tasks easier to complete.

03 Making Dense Information Easier to Scan

Give important information a clear place in the hierarchy.

Subscriber operations involved large amounts of information, but important actions often competed for attention.

I used grouping, hierarchy, spacing and progressive disclosure to make critical information easier to find without removing the depth required by the platform.

04 Designing for High-Volume Operations

Keep complex operations efficient at scale.

Managing millions of subscribers required efficient search, filtering, tables, device management, payments and reporting.

I designed these interactions around predictable patterns so users could work with large datasets without adding unnecessary complexity.

05 Creating a Consistent System

Reusable patterns made the platform easier to use and maintain.

Shared components and interaction patterns created consistency across the 12 modules.

Working closely with the system architect and developers helped align the UX with the technical architecture and implementation constraints.

What I Took Away

Enterprise UX is about managing complexity without passing that complexity on to the user.

Understanding the underlying workflows, structuring information clearly and creating consistent patterns allowed me to simplify a complex platform while keeping it powerful enough for high-volume operations.

Research documentation, site maps, and design decisions are available on request , happy to walk through the full process in a conversation.
